On September 20, 2019, Almaty hosted the international round table «Prospects for the Central Asia-China strategic partnership», organized by the Institute of world economics and politics under the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The round table discussed the geo-economic dimension of cooperation between Central Asian countries and China and strategic cooperation between Central Asian countries and China through the prism of regional security.
The event was attended by prominent experts from Central Asia - Deputy Director of the Center for strategic studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Parviz Mohammadzoda, Head of the Institute of strategic and interregional studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahromjon Sotibaldiev, Senior researcher at the National Institute of strategic studies of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubanychbek Toktorbaev, member of the Board of the Kyrgyz Council for international and security affairs Marat Kazakpaev, as well as famous representatives of the Kazakh analytical community, including the Director of the Institute of world economics and policy under the Fund of First President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Yerzhan Saltybaev, Director of the Institute of world economy and international relations Akimzhan Arupov, Director of the International center of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation «China Center» Adil Kaukenov, Director of the Center for the study of historical materials in the Institute of Oriental studies after R.B. Suleimenov KN MES Meruert Abuseitova, political scientist, member of the National Council of public trust under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Shibutov and others.
Kazakhstan Institute for strategic studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by chief research fellow Vyacheslav Dodonov, who made a report «Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in trade and investment during the implementation of the BRI project», in which he revealed the trends of bilateral economic relations in the field of foreign trade and mutual investments in the period 2013-2018.
