On September 19, 2019, Nur-Sultan hosted the international scientific and practical conference «Life strategies and mobility of youth in Central Asia: challenges, prospects and potential» with the participation of experts representing both relevant government agencies of the region and non-governmental organizations and academic institutions.
Welcoming speech to the conference participants was made by director of KazISS Zarema Shaukenova, member of the Board, deputy chairman of the board of NCE RK «Atameken», Chairman of the Council of business women at the chamber Lyazzat Ramazanova, acting Coordinator for Central Asia and Head of the Mission of the International organization for migration in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Victoria Kasabyan and national officer of IOM sub-regional coordination office for Central Asia Evgeniy Khon.
At this event, the results of a study conducted under the auspices of IOM in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan «External youth migration in Central Asia: risk analysis and minimization of negative consequences» were presented. The authors of this report from Kazakhstan included director of KazISS Zarema Shaukenova, chief research fellow Irina Chernykh, senior research fellow Anastasia Reshetnyak.
During the conference, the participants discussed the regional aspects of external youth migration in Central Asia and the country features of this process. Special attention was paid to the issues of education and professional realization of migrants, as well as youth policy in the countries of Central Asia in the context of health, family, social support.
